The inspiration for Sinawui 2000 came from my journey along the Silk Road to China's Tengeri desert in inner Mongolia. Tengeri is an Altaic language term for Tan'gun, the legendary founder of Korea.
The people of the lost kingdom in this area were called Tangkut, which also means Tangkuri. In our lost land, overwhelmed by the sand wind, a long journey toward a distant light was revealed in our collective memory.
The wind carried us on a journey relating the distance from earth to sky, from country to country, from people to people, to help us find the way.
Like a far away echo, the song of the dinosaur drifts in our memory and carries us to the center of the Earth. The Promised Land, this secret Land, our lost Land.
Like the voice of a mermaid, this chant bewitches us and takes us away, beyond the mirror of conscience, before our Promised Land, forgetting one’s self just long enough for our path to resurge.
