Supposing the movement of danse to be a dress, I would like, in hat case, to think of Campi magnetici as "nudity". I would like to be able to offer "the body" a white space where all that is inside ourselves and has so far not succeeded in expressing itself, can evaporate in danse.
The ballet Campi magnetici by Franco Battiato, Manlio Sgalambro and Paco Dècina, does not try to tell us a story; rather, it is divided into scenes which suggestevly evoke , in the ancient mode, science, art and technical skill, in honour of true cultural values of Humanism. Every section of this clever work has an evocative title : In Trance, Bodies in Movement, Globular Thunderbolts, Current of Stars, The Age of Hermaphrodites, The Unknonwn, Primordial Sounds, ending up with La Mer, an unusual epilogue by Charles Trenet, sung for rthe first time by Manlio Sgalambro.
